Overview: Using The Internet Projects

The Internet Projects is a site designed to supplement Addison Wesley Longman's text Elementary Statistics, written by Neil Weiss. The site was designed and written by Tim Arnold.

This Internet Projects site is constructed to help you navigate many other resources on the Internet, within the context of each chapter's project. The projects use real data on real situations, with an analytical focus on each chapter's statistical topics. The site is more than a simple list of links to other web pages--the Internet Projects site provides both context and a control panel with which you can explore the set of statistical topics and real data covered in the project.

The goal of the Internet Projects is to provide you with the tools to explore real situations and real data using the statistical techniques covered in the text. By exploring real situations with statistical tools, you can see that statistics is more than equations and formulas....it is a way of trying to find the truth and make decisions concerning serious situations in the world in which we live.

Further, the Internet Projects site provides a window into some of the best statistical visualization sites on the Internet today. In each project, you can visit these sites and explore animations, demonstrations, and interactive graphics. You can use these powerful tools for understanding statistics at any time during the course.
