Can condoms (and condom promotion) help prevent the spread of the AIDS virus? In this project, you will look at data gathered to study the prevention of new human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections through the promotion of condom use.
This project includes an animated time-lapse map showing the spread of the virus throughout the United States. Undoubtedly the spread of the disease is frightening. Any method that can help prevent deaths from this disease needs to be examined. However, controversy persists regarding whether condoms are an effective means of preventing HIV transmission. Some believe that, if condoms are easily available and effectively promoted, they can play an important role in HIV prevention. In this project, you will explore data gathered from around the world on the effect of condom use on HIV transmission and develop your own conclusion.
