TestGen-EQ Testbank Corrections

The files below contain corrections to questions or problems contained in existing TestGen-EQ testbanks in response to errors reported by instructors. The patch files are compatible with TestGen-EQ 3.2.

Installing TestGen-EQ 3.2

If you are using a version of TestGen-EQ that is earlier than version 3.2, you will need to first install TestGen-EQ 3.2 and open your existing testbank to convert it to 3.2 format. If you do not have a copy of the TestGen-EQ 3.2 program, you can obtain it in two ways:
  1. Click the appropriate link at the top of this page to download either the Windows or Macintosh version of the program. Install the program according to the instructions given in the TG-EQ 3.2 Upgrade Instructions.
  2. Ask your Addison Wesley sales rep to order you a TestGen-EQ 3.2 Upgrade package which contains the TG-EQ 3.2 Upgrade Instructions, the Win and Mac programs on CD, and copies of the User's Guides. Install the program according to the Upgrade Instructions.

General Instructions for Using Patch Files

Each patch file is a tiny testbank (.BOK file), compatible with TestGen-EQ 3.2, that contains one or more corrrected problem types or question types for a particular textbook. Follow these general procedures to use a patch file.
  1. Download the appropriate version of the patch file for the textbook you are using.
  2. Save the patch file in a temporary folder or in a folder where you will be able to find it after you download it. You may want to save it in the same folder that contains the TestGen-EQ 3.2 program (i.e., TGEQ32).
  3. If you did not save the patch file in the TestGen-EQ program folder, copy or drag the patch BOK file into the folder that contains the TestGen-EQ 3.2 program.
  4. Start the TestGen-EQ 3.2 program and open both your existing testbank and the patch BOK file.
  5. Close any Test windows that may open automatically.
  6. More specific instructions are contained at the top of the patch BOK file when you open it with TestGen-EQ 3.2.
  7. Please note: If you have not made any changes to the problem types or questions in your testbank, you can simply select the corrected problem type in the patch file, Copy it, select the same problem type in YOUR testbank, and choose Replace.
  8. Please note: If you have made changes or added questions in the problem type that needs to be corrected, you may want to Copy and Replace only individual testbank items rather than Copy and Replace the entire problem type or question type. If you copy the entire problem type, the replaced problems will overwrite any changes you have made in the problem type.
  9. Patch files for particular books will be updated on a regular basis as errors are reported and corrected. Report any errors you find and check back to this page occasionally.

After you download the testbank patch file, open it with TestGen-EQ 3.2 and follow the instructions provided within.

After you download the testbank patch file, open it with TestGen-EQ 3.2 and follow the instructions provided within.
