Q: What do I need to register?

A: To make sure that you register for the right course, you'll need to start by answering four questions. The entire registration process should take you less than 10 minutes.

First, make sure you have the following information on hand:

  • The author and title of your assigned textbook.
  • The Student Access Kit or access card that came with your textbook or a credit card number if you need to buy access.
  • A valid email address where you can receive confirmation of you registration.
  • A Course ID (if your instructor is using Course Compass).

Q: Where do I register for myA&P in CourseCompass?

A: You are already at the correct place to register for myA&P in CourseCompass. Click "Students" under "First-time users." Then click I already have an access code in the myA&P CourseCompass box. You will need the Course ID provided by your instructor.

Q: Why am I seeing an error when I enter my access code?

A: Verify that your Access Kit or access card corresponds to the version of myA&P for which you are registering. The access cards found inside your textbook don't require a Course ID. The myA&P Student Access kit packaged outside your textbook is for myA&P with CourseCompass and does require a Course ID that is provided by your instructor. If you continue to have problems, click Help.

Q: How can I purchase access?

A: To purchase access, first click Students on the home page. Then on the next page click I need to buy access under the appropriate myA&P product for your course (with or without CourseCompass). You will need a credit card and valid email address to complete the purchase.

Q: What is a Student Access Kit?

A: If you purchased a new copy of your textbook from the bookstore, you may have received a Student Access Kit that will be packaged on the outside of your textbook. Inside the kit you'll find an access code that will allow you to register for myA&P.

Q: What is a Course ID?

A: If your instructor has elected to use the CourseCompass course management system, you will need a Course ID to enroll in his or her course. The Course ID will identify you as a student in that course so that your name will appear in your instructor's grade book. If your instructor is teaching with CourseCompass, you cannot register until you've obtained the Course ID from your instructor.

Q: I am an instructor who already uses CourseCompass. Do I need to register for myA&P too?

A: No. Your current login name and password for CourseCompass allow you to access any myA&P course found in the CourseCompass catalog. Simply follow the instructions above for copying a myA&P course.

Q: I am an instructor and I have registered already. How do I create my CourseCompass course?

A: Log in to CourseCompass. Select "Create or Copy a Course." Type the textbook author’s last name in the search box and then click "Search." When you have identified the course for your text, click "Select Course Materials" and follow the instructions on the screen.

Q: I have created my CourseCompass course. How will my students register for it?

A: When you create a CourseCompass course you will receive a Course ID number that is specific to your course. Your students MUST have this Course ID in order to access your myA&P with CourseCompass course. Please distribute the Course ID to your students. Then, the students should follow the instructions provided in their myA&P Student Access Kits to register themselves.

Q: Can students access myA&P without purchasing a Benjamin Cummings text?

A: Yes, students can either purchase access to myA&P online or purchase a myA&P Student Access Kit through their bookstore if their instructor adopts it. The ISBNs for the Student Access Kits can be found on the catalog page for the specific book. Visit www.aw-bc.com for more information.

Q: If a student purchases a used book, will they have access to myA&P for that title?

A: Students who purchase a used book do not automatically have access to myA&P. However, they can purchase access to myA&P either by using the online purchase option or by purchasing a myA&P Student Access Kit through their campus bookstore. Note that myA&P Student Access Kits are not available for all myA&P courses.

Q: Are alternate web resources available for me?

A: Users of Marieb/Hoehn’s Human Anatomy and Physiology, Seventh Edition and Martini’s Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology, Seventh Edition may choose to use the A&P Place, a companion website that includes a subset of the features from myA&P. After you register for myA&P, you will receive a confirmation e-mail message that includes a direct link to the A&P Place Companion Website for your book. A CourseCompass Course ID is not required for the A&P Place but sites that offer a gradebook will generate a Class ID that instructors need to deliver to their students in order to view student grades.

Portions of the A&P Place Companion Website may be free and open-access. Please contact your Sales Representative for more information.

New myA&P sites published for new titles in 2007 may offer a myA&P in both CourseCompass and non-CourseCompass format. Click on the book covers on the Books Available page to determine what sites are offered for your textbook.

Additionally, some titles also have BlackBoard and/or WebCT cartridges available. Please check our online catalog to find out which options are available for each title.

Q: Where do I get the browser plug-ins that I need for my course?

A: All myA&P users need to install certain browser plug-ins. To find out which plug-ins you need for your course, visit the main System Requirements page.
