Minimum System Requirements for Windows
Users
This Biochemistry 3/e Electronic Study Guide contains
.html pages and Java applets. The .html pages can be viewed via almost
any browser on almost any Windows computer. However, the Java applets (which
are in the Quizzing section of this Electronic Study Guide) will
not run successfully unless the following minimum system requirements are
met by your computer:

Windows95, Windows98, or WindowsNT 4.x

Pentium processor

16 megabytes of RAM (32 megabytes for NT 4.x)

Mouse

Color monitor capable of 256-color display and at least 640 x 480 resolution.
While 640 x 480 can be used to view this product, at least 800 x 600 resolution
is highly recommended. For more information on the drawbacks of 640 x 480
and on checking and changing your computer's video display, see Notes
on Video Display.

4.x or higher version of either the Internet Explorer browser or the Netscape
browser. If you want to download (for free) the latest version of either
Internet Explorer or Netscape, click on the appropriate icon below and
you will be taken to that vendor's web page for download information.

In the case of both browsers (I.E. and Netscape), the Java option and
the Javascript option will need to be enabled. To check if these options
are enabled in your browser (and to change them if needed), see Enabling
Java and JavaScript.
Minimum System Requirements for Macintosh Users
This Biochemistry 3/e Electronic Study Guide contains .html
pages and Java applets. The .html pages can be viewed via almost any browser
on almost any Macintosh computer. However, the Java applets (which are
in the Quizzing section of this Electronic Study Guide) will not
run successfully unless the following minimum system requirements are met
by your computer:

8 megs free RAM for systems using the I.E. 4.0 browser or the Netscape
4.08 browser. This RAM requirement increases with the newer releases I.E.
and Netscape (as the RAM requirements for the browsers themselves increase).

Color monitor capable of 256-color display and at least 640 x 480 resolution.

Caution!
If you are using Internet Explorer 4.5 or greater on a Macintosh platform DO NOT run a quiz
without first downloading and installing Mac OS Runtime for Java 2.2! Running a quiz without first installing
MRJ 2.2 may result in a system crash. You can download MRJ 2.2 from Apple at
www.apple.com/java.
