dCDP is a deoxyribonucleotide made from CDP in the reaction catalyzed by ribonucleotide reductase, as follows:

CDP + NADPH <=> dCDP + NADP⁺

Phosphorylation of dCDP yields dCTP, a substrate for DNA polymerase in synthesis of DNA.
