Glutamic--Semialdehyde

Figure 21.2, illustrates conversion of glutamate to ornithine (a urea cycle intermediate). Formation of the intermediate, glutamic--semialdehyde, is comparable to the reduction of aspartate to aspartic semialdehyde. Glutamic--semialdehyde leads to the biosynthesis of proline (see here).
