5-Enoylpyruvylshikimic Acid-3-Phosphate

5-Enoylpyruvylshikimic acid-3-phosphate (Figure 21.13) is the immediate metabolic precursor of chorismate. Chorismate is a metabolic branch point for synthesis of tryptophan and phenylalanine/tyrosine. Yet another branch from chorismate leades to coenzyme Q (Figure 21.14).
