3-Ketosphinganine

3-Ketosphinganine is a intermediate in biosynthesis of sphingolipids in animals that is the product of reaction between palmitoyl-CoA and serine. This reaction splits out CoA-SH and carbon dioxide. The reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme 3-ketosphinganine synthase.
