Citrate Lyase

Citrate Lyase catalyzes the reaction that follows:

Citrate + ATP + CoASH <=> Acetyl-CoA + Oxaloacetate + ADP + Pi

This reaction is important for moving acetyl-CoA out of the mitochondria for use in fatty acid synthesis, which occurs in the cytoplasm (Figure 18.31)
