6-Phosphogluconolactone

6-phosphogluconolactone is a pentose phosphate pathwayintermediate produced by glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase - catalyzed oxidation of glucose-6-phosphate. 6-phosphogluconolactone is converted to 6-phosphogluconate by action of the enzyme lactonase.
