UDP-Galactose is an intermediate in galactose metabolism, formed by the enzymeUDP-glucose--D-galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase, which catalyzes release of glucose-1-phosphate from UDP-glucose in exchange for galactose-1-phosphate to make UDP-galactose.
