Glycerol Kinase is an enzyme in the liver that is important in glycerol metabolism.
It catalyzes the reaction below:
Glycerol + ATP <=> Glycerol-3-Phosphate + ADP + H+
Glycerol-3-phosphate, thus formed, can be oxidized to dihdroxyacetone phosphate by the enzyme glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase.
