Antigens

An antigen is a substance that can elicit a specific immune response. A foreign particle in the body, such as a virus, bacterium, or protein can be an antigen. Antigens bind to specific antibodies. Typically, only a part of the antigen molecule is bound by an antibody. This part of the antigen is called the
antigenic determinant.
