Author Bios

JERI R. HANLY is a member of the computer science faculty at the University of Wyoming.
She has developed software for target recognition in collaboration with naval researchers in
China Lake, California and has taught software engineering seminars for professional developers
of computing systems in the United States and Canada. Ms. Hanly is also the
co-author of the best-selling C Program Design for Engineers and Essential C++
for Engineers and Scientists, both from Addison-Wesley.
DR. ELLIOT KOFFMAN is a professor of computer science at Temple University. He received
his Ph.D. in engineering from Case Western University. Dr. Koffman is a former chairman of both
the ACM Task Force for introductory programming methods courses and the ACM Special Interest
Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE). He is the author or co-author of a number of
other successful Addison-Wesley texts on Java, C++, Ada, Modula-2, and FORTRAN, in addition
to five editions of his best-selling books on Pascal and Turbo Pascal.
