MasteringChemistryTM is not only an online homework system that tracks multiple parts of a single problem, it is also a tutoring system relying on the Socratic method of presenting students with simpler sub-questions to help guide them back on the right track. Furthermore, the system responds to common wrong answers with specific feedback, rather than one generic ?catch-all? response. The tutorial content is tested by thousands of students. During testing, we capture all student answer submissions and write/rewrite hints and feedback for their most common actual wrong answers. As a result, MasteringChemistry addresses not just where Chemistry instructors expect students to go wrong, but where they actually do go wrong. Our standard is that the tutorials guide at least 85% of students to the final, correct answer. We modify the hints and feedback until we achieve that goal, and we revisit the students? results regularly to ensure that we maintain it.

For two-semester or three-quarter courses in General Chemistry.
McMurry/Fay helps students and professors get to the heart of chemistry more effectively and helps students see the connections to chemistry more clearly.
McMurry/Fay is known for its smart and precise presentation that blends the quantitative and visual aspects of General Chemistry. The 5th edition of McMurry/Fay builds on this foundation making the right connections in general chemistry topically, visually, and quantitatively. Chemistry is mastered when students make the right connections in three key areas; topics that are related, conceptual reasoning with quantitative work, and the different modes of communicating information. McMurry/Fay breaks through the boundaries traditionally imposed by textbooks that have historically made it difficult for students to make these connections on their own. Topic Connections, Conceptual and Quantitative parallel presentation, and Text-Graphic Integration Objects make these critical connections clear and visible, so students see the chemistry the first time. When you see the connections, you see the chemistry.
Students don’t use textbooks exactly the same way they used them in the past. The new layout of MF5 was designed to map to the way students seek and process information, and is based on conversations with students about the way they study.
For two-semester or three-quarter courses in General Chemistry.
Tro provides students the support they need early so they can tackle challenging topics later. He does this by building on what students already know.
The author’s goal in writing this book is to deliver the depth of coverage faculty want with the accessibility and clarity that students need for success. Nivaldo J. Tro’s Chemistry: A Molecular Approach explains difficult chemical concepts in a concise and clear student-centered manner while also providing faculty with the flexibility to go more deeply into many key, often neglected topics, such as electron diffraction, molecular orbital theory, and free-energy changes under non-standard conditions. Chemistry is presented visually throughmulti-level images (macroscopic, molecular and symbolic representations), which helps students see the connections among the formulas (symbolic), the world around them (macroscopic), and the atoms and molecules that make up the world (molecular). Every aspect of this book focuses students on recognizing that the behavior of matter is based on the behavior of atoms and molecules.
Timberlake’s Chemistry: An Introduction to General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry Tenth Edition continues to lead the market with its clear and friendly writing style and real-world health related applications that relate to students' lives and future careers.
