Q. What is BiologyLabs On-Line? Biology Labs On-Line is a series of web-based biology activities designed to reinforce scientific methodology via interactive, intuitive, inquiry-based lab exercises.
Biology Labs On-Line allows students to actively learn about biological principles that are currently too difficult to do in traditional labs because they are too dangerous, too expensive, or take too long. They provide unique flexibility that allows the instructor to tailor the labs to their course and to the level of their students' abilities.

Q. Do they replace traditional "wet labs"?
A. No. They complement traditional wet labs by exploring only those topics that are too difficult to do in a traditional lab set-up.
Q. Are they stand-alone tutorials?
A. No. While extensive background materials, objectives, and references are provided, BLOL is not intended to replace lectures or textbook reading, any more than a traditional wet lab would be expected to. BLOL is a simulation program, not a tutorial program.
Q. Are they on-line courses?
A. No. They are labs that help students learn only selected topics.
Q. Are they point-by-point presentations?
A. No, they aren't static, linear presentations of concepts such as you would see in a PowerPoint presentation. Students must be actively involved in these labs.
