Welcome to our booksite for Designing the User Interface (Third Edition). The book is a static snapshot of a rapidly changing and expanding field, and, as the author, I hope it informs and entices you to learn more. This booksite is an online complement that is a dynamic and growing guide to current information resources, appropriate communities, and key individuals. We hope that it will serve your needs for information and satisfy your desire for interaction..
Blaise Liffick has done an admirable job during the first two years in setting up the booksite and organizing the information in a way that will be helpful to students, instructors, and professionals. He's used the structure of the book as a starting point, and the booksite offers extracts from the book, plus pointers to web-based sources related to each chapter. Dozens of instructors, many of them leaders in the field, have contributed their course outlines and materials. Now, as Roger Chapman takes over in spring 1999, I hope that you will challenge him and me with your questions and suggestions, while having a lively interchange in our discussion group.
Please let us know what you think of our booksite features and what we might do to make it more useful and satisfying to you.
Sincerely yours,
Ben Shneiderman
